Nancy Phong, Court Reporter
Transitioning from a court reporting student to an official court reporter can be very intimidating and overwhelming, but with Reportex’s diligent guidance the process has been painless.
Reportex welcomed me with open arms and helped ease me into my first job. They ensured that I was prepared and that I knew what to expect. Their personalized and meticulous training process is specifically designed to guide new reporters into success, and I am quickly becoming more confident with my writing and editing, while adhering to the excellence that Reportex is known for.
I am extremely happy with my decision to become a part of the Reportex team. Everyone is very supportive, and I am being well taken care of. And living in downtown Vancouver has been quite the experience too, with the breathtaking city views and the convenience of being steps away from the office!
Laura Collis, Court Reporter
I worked hard during my transition from school to career, and even though it seemed daunting and impossible at the time, Christy and the Reportex team worked with me every step of the way to ensure it went as smoothly as possible.
There is a lot to learn when you leave school. Christy has a very hands-on approach and she provided me with valuable one-on-one training. Before I arrived in Vancouver, she went over everything I would need for my first few years, providing me with ample time to get all my tech in place.
Once I arrived, Christy walked me through everything step by step and ensured that all my equipment was working as it should. While I waited for my reporter designation to be processed, Reportex gave me plenty of opportunities to shadow experienced reporters, and I received valuable guidance on how to fine-tune my personal dictionary. Everyone at Reportex has been extremely supportive of me, and they are always willing to spend time with me and to answer any questions I have. There’s a real colleagiality at Reportex, and you feel a sense of belonging, whether you’ve been reporting for 2 years or 20 years!
As they say, you don’t know what you don’t know, and this is especially true of court reporting. There are endless things to learn, and Christy makes sure that your training is as comprehensive as possible. She is incredibly knowledgeable and can answer any questions you might have, even those you never thought to ask.
Due to the incredible support, guidance and relationships I have formed at Reportex, I have never regretted my decision to make the jump and come to Vancouver. We have a convenient downtown location that is easily accessible no matter where you choose to live, and the amazing views from our office are definitely Instagram worthy!
I am very proud to be part of the Reportex family, and I would recommend working at Reportex a hundred times over.
Christina Berekoff, Court Reporter
Immediately following graduation, I moved to Vancouver to begin working with Reportex.
The comprehensive and significant training and support provided during my initial learning period with Reportex has gone above and beyond to help me settle into my career as a court reporter. Reportex’s one-on-one guidance and detailed wiki instructions have enabled me to become very efficient very quickly, and I feel confident taking on more challenging work so early in my career. And with Reportex’s rigorous in-house quality control systems, I am assured that our clients are receiving accurate transcripts from a very competent team of staff.
Vancouver is a beautiful city, and living and working in downtown Vancouver has been a wonderful experience. I really appreciate how close everything is – especially the ocean! I truly couldn’t be happier with my decision to move to the west coast.
Max K., Digital Content Director
I’ve been a part of Reportex’s office staff since 2012, which is an unusual length of time among my social circles. I like our office culture, I like our team and I like the support I get from management. Reportex is flexible in a way that not a lot of companies are. I find that my strengths are recognized and rewarded here, and I see that happen with my coworkers too. Reportex is respectful of its employees as people, not interchangeable widgets, and goes out of its way to create an environment where staff are able to do their best work. Reportex is also respectful of work-life balance in a way that many employers are not.
Louise Kennedy, Medicolegal Transcription Coordinator
Working with Reportex has been very satisfying and challenging. I was given the opportunity to advance within the company from the ground up. It is a pleasure to work with the Reportex family.
I sincerely enjoy working with the fantastic team at Reportex since I started with them in 2009. Not only are all of the staff consistently pleasant and professional to deal with, but all account specifics and materials are provided and any questions are addressed as quickly as possible.
I have worked as an independent contractor in the medicolegal department of Reportex since 2012. I am proud to work for a company that values high quality work and strives for excellence in the way that Reportex does. I appreciate the flexibility that I have in working with Reportex, where I can adjust my availability, work on my own hours or even take on more work if I find myself with extra time. It is also wonderful to work with people who feel like family and who are quick to celebrate our personal joys with us and show care and concern through times of personal struggles.
Derek Smith, Scoper
I have worked for Reportex for three years as a scoper, checking the reporter’s first draft and making it verbatim. When I joined Reportex, I had had experience transcribing legal discoveries and had also worked with stenographers in closed-captioning for television. I was apprehensive about the amount of typing I might need to do at first, but I soon discovered that Reportex’s reporters are top-notch. Their accuracy and ability to stay on top of the speakers is phenomenal.
I get excellent support from the reporters and there is a constant flow of emails and communications. Documents that are referenced at trial are accessible securely online so spellings and quotes can be easily confirmed. I would recommend this position for someone who has solid spelling, punctuation and grammar skills, good listening skills and a calm demeanour under pressure and who enjoys being exposed to a broad range of topics.
Janice L, Proofreader
I have been working with Reportex as a proofing contractor since 2006. The world of court reporting was new to me when I started, and I was given extensive and excellent training as well as assistance with acquiring the resources and information I needed, and all these years later that supportive relationship continues. Feedback helps me keep my skills sharp and maintain the high standards that are expected, and the Reportex commitment to a high-tech work style means that as a contractor I benefit from the introduction of new approaches and new technologies. I feel that my work is valued, and I find being part of the Reportex team professionally very satisfying.
