Dr. Blokmanis graduated with a bachelor of medicine and a bachelor of surgery in Melbourne, Australia, in 1965. Following that he was a junior and senior house officer at Western General Hospital and then a pathology registrar at Prince Henry’s Hospital in Melbourne. He then went to London, England, to study at the Nuffield College, and he wrote the first part of his English Fellowship in 1969. He then came to Vancouver and spent the next three years at Vancouver General Hospital, BC Children’s Hospital and Shaughnessy Hospital and obtained his fellowship in otolaryngology with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. After two years he went into private practice as a general otolaryngologist with a special interest in rhinology and otology. He then became interested in allergy, and in 1995 he obtained his specialty certification from the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. He has published numerous articles on many topics in otolaryngology.
