Dr. Russell is a forensic psychiatrist with a unique blend of both clinical and forensic experience. After the completion of his medical degree at the University of British Columbia in 1992 and a rotating internship at Dalhousie University in 1993, Dr. Russell worked as a rural general practitioner for seven years before completing his psychiatry residency training at the University of Washington in 2004 and a forensic psychiatry fellowship, also at the University of Washington, in 2005.

Dr. Russell is qualified as a subspecialist in forensic psychiatry with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In addition to his forensic practice he maintains an active clinical practice that includes providing psychiatric outreach to remote northern BC communities. When he finds the time, he is an avid fly fisherman.

He also performs independent psychiatric evaluations for ICBC, plaintiff counsel and insurance companies.
